MORAC ADVENTURE PARK, LANGKAWI, 14 Nov 2020 – Amprex Circuit Langkawi Sdn Bhd, is delighted to announce that it will be the official race promoter for the following karting series in 2021.

Malaysia Karting Festival 2021 incorporating: IAME Series Malaysia 2021,

KKS Karting Series 2021

SWS Sprint & Endurance Race Series

MALAYSIA KARTING FESTIVAL 2021

The Malaysia Karting Festival 2021 is an attempt to bring various groups of karters together on a weekend for a festival of kart racing. Each weekend will have 21 races in the two series and will give competitors exposure to two very different forms of kart racing – serious “spec” racing where engine specs are very rigidly controlled, and “open” racing where teams or tuners are able to put their tuning skills to good use to show how well they can prepare a kart and engine. It will also bring back to life a lot of old engines that cannot meet the “spec” regulations but are still very raceable.

IAME is the world leader in kart engines and has been manufacturing kart engines for nearly 50 years and along the way has amassed over 50 world karting titles. Today it manufactures over six thousand engines a year and has a high degree of customer loyalty which has been strengthened further following the launch of the IAME Series and the creation of the incomparable X30 engine range. The IAME Series gathers drivers of all ages in competitions where their driving ability and skills can be expressed at the top through the philosophy of equality.

The IAME Series Malaysia 2021 is a subsidiary of the IAME Series. This series is organised to increase the level of competitive karting of Malaysians who want to participate in a higher level of motorsports. The winner of the IAME Series Malaysia will be given an entry to the IAME Series Asia Finals that will be run towards the end of 2021. The IAME Series Malaysia is inscribed with the Motorsports Association of Malaysia (MAM) as a National Series to further promote the growth of “grassroots” motor sports in Malaysia.

There will be 5 rounds in the 2021 series, starting and ending at Morac Adventure Park Circuit in Langkawi. Other rounds will be in the Klang Valley and at Litar Lumbar Tangkak KBS, Gerisek, Johor.

Kelab Kart Selangor & Wilayah Persekutuan has a rich history of organizing all forms of motor sports including competition karting events in Malaysia for over 40 years. Since 2000 the Club has organized almost 200 karting events, from Club events to International and has some of the most experienced motorsport officials in the Asian region. The Club is also the most well equipped to run any motorsports events as they own and operate all their equipment.

The KKS Karting Series 2021, is an open race series running as a support event to the IAME Series Malaysia 2021. This series is initiated because there are numerous engines in the country that no longer comply with the strict requirements for “spec” racing and are either put into storage or being run in the many private events, mainly in the Klang Valley. This series runs open classes which have the minimum of restrictions.

As an example, for the Junior class, both IAME and Rotax engines are permitted to run as long as they are fitted with the “factory” restrictor. Other than that, there is no restriction on what is done to the engine.
For the Senior class, except for a maximum engine capacity of 125 c.c., there are no restrictions on the engine.

What this means is that all engines of any make can compete in the Senior class as this is the class where there are the most brands of engines lying around.
Karts are open except for having to meet CIK safety requirements and all competitors will need to be licenced by the MAM, as this would give them proper insurance coverage both as a driver and for the Organisers.

As the KKS Series runs together with the IAME Series Malaysia, costs can be very much reduced as competitors can pool together for transport and technical support.

SODI WORLD SERIES

Sodi World Series (SWS) is the only leisure karting championship in the world designed for karting enthusiasts using SODI Karts. Morac Adventure Park, Langkawi, operated by Amprex Circuit Langkawi Sdn Bhd, is the only circuit in Malaysia recognised by SODI to run SWS races with a fleet of SODI SR4 Karts.

Morac Adventure Park, Langkawi, is the most exciting circuit in Malaysia for competition karting or leisure karting. Having played host to two ROTAX Grand Finals in the past, the track had a rich history but over the last 15 years , it had deteriorated for various reasons. Amprex Circuit Langkawi Sdn Bhd in 2018 took over the circuit and invested heavily with a new track surface and a completely rebuilt grandstand and office block, resulting in a safer track with more facilities. A new state of the art timing system, results display and a brand new fleet of SODI karts manned by well trained crew, make Morac Adventure Park the place to go for all your karting needs.

The circuit will be hosting the SWS Sprint and Endurance Races in 2021. The series will follow SWS Rules and Regulations which are internationally accepted and moderated by the Sodi World Series. Both series are open to participants from the age of 15 years and above . The series is a very budget friendly competition that is focusing mainly on amateurs and enthusiasts who enjoy racing without the fear of spending excessively to go racing. All safety gear is available on loan free of charge at the track, making this a very convenient arrive and drive competition.

As an incentive, Morac Adventure Park, Langkawi, will sponsor Golden Tickets to the Sprint Cup Champion and Endurance Race Champion Team to go to the Sodi World Finals as representatives of Malaysia. The World Finals are held yearly in various locations of the world over a period of 3 – 4 days. The Golden Tickets provide flight tickets, hotel stays and race fees for both categories.

Both these competitions will be held only at Morac Adventure Park, Langkawi in the year 2021. Competitors will be driving the SODI SR4 karts throughout the year. The competitions will have various time slots to make the races more exciting as Morac Adventure Park, Langkawi is operational from day to night time.
